11G: Een flat met duizend ramen (2026)

11G is one of six pieces in the miniseries Een flat met duizend ramen (A flat with a thousand windows). Artistic director of the project Primo Ish-Hurwitz invited Richard Ayres, Hanna Kulenty, Frieda Gustavs, Jan-Peter de Graaff and Boris Bezemer to form a team of six composers, each creating a work with a text by Joke van Leeuwen and one of the six string quartets from Joseph Haydn’s Opus 20.

In the most intimate performance of the six, a pregnant woman speaks to her baby about the outside world that awaits him. Boris Bezemer continuously engages with Haydn’s music in various ways, creating—both acoustically and with electronics—a sound world like amniotic fluid in which you can swim around.
